Black Pearl Fever

This Polynesian dance troupe performed and posed for us before we left Papeete. The people look like they could be South American but are related to the original Tawainese. The black pearls of Tahiti were rare and desired by all of European Royalty for crown jewels. Now they seed oysters on oyster farms and the pearls are just as beautiful, bountiful and affordable. We went to a Pearl Market and so I am picking pearls. Here is our ship, The Paul Gauguin, which we boarded and spent the night under way to our next island.
